Театр «Хамелеон» представляет спектакль Anti Gone

18 и 19 июня в театре Marylebone Theatre Лондонский русскоязычный театр «Хамелеон» представляет премьеру спектакля Anti Gone. В основу постановки легла софокловская история об Антигоне, по-новому переосмысленная современным драматургом Евгенией Палеховой. В спектакле всего два героя на сцене — Креонт и Антигона. От исхода их поединка зависит всё.

В Фивах только что закончилась гражданская война. Развязавшие ее братья Этеокл и Полиник, мертвы. К власти приходит диктатор Креонт и приказывает с почестями похоронить Этеокла, а Полиника оставить на растерзание птицам и псам. Несмотря на запрет, Антигона решает предать тело брата земле. За нарушение запрета царя ей грозит смертная казнь…

Театр «Хамелеон» и создатели спектакля, во главе с международным режиссером Овлякули Ходжакули, исследуют вечные и такие актуальные вопросы:

Что движет человеком: судьба или воля?

Что важнее: законы страны или законы совести?

На что мы готовы пойти ради долга и какую цену придется за это заплатить?

The war has ended. Antigone learns that both her brothers are dead. Forced onto opposing sides, they have killed each other in battle.

When dictator Creon takes control of the torn and hostile state, he buries one brother and proclaims another one a traitor, leaving him to rot in the streets of Thebes. Antigone chooses to bury her brother despite the danger it entails.

London based Eastern European/Russian theatre company premieres new visceral and timely anti-authoritarian play Anti-Gone.

In this contemporary take on Sophocles tragedy, directed by an award-winning director Ovlyakuli KhodzhakuliXameleon Theatre explores the subjects of tyranny, abuse of power and living under dictatorship regimes.

The newly commissioned two-hander play is written by the Russian playwright Evgeniya Palekhova. Evgeniya’s latest two plays were staged at Theatre Doc in Moscow (‘Russia’s most daring theatre’ (BBC).

Anti Gone is supported by Goethe Institute and Marylebone Theatre, R&D supported by Arts Council, Stone Nest, NDT Broadgate, Migrants in Theatre, Counterpoints Arts and Platforma Festival.

*Xameleon Theatre is a London based theatre company working with artists from former Iron Curtain countries.

Working with migrant artists of Eastern & Northern European, Russian and Central Asian origin, Xameleon is creating contemporary and bold adaptations of classical texts. Previous projects include all-female Anna Karenina (The Cockpit, 2019), A Dog’s Heart by Mikhail Bulgakov (Pleasance 2017), and The Little Prince (The Cockpit 2017,2018).
