Портрет Мао Цзэдуна ушел с молотка за 7,6 млн фунтов

Andy-Warhol-artwork-Mao-ZedongПортрет Мао Цзэдуна кисти художника Энди Уорхола продан на аукционе Sotheby’s за 7,6 млн фунтов стерлингов. Стоимость в 18 раз превысила предыдущую, когда в 2000 году эта же работа стоила чуть более 400 000 фунтов.

Серия портретов Мао в исполнении Уорхола стала своеобразным ответом на визит президента США Ричарда Никсона в Китай в 1972 году.

На нынешнем аукционе Sotheby’s также продана картина Герхарда Рихтера «Стена» (Wand (Wall) за 17,4 млн фунтов и работа Люсьена Фрейда «Голова на фоне зеленого дивана» (Head on a Green Sofa) ушла с молотка за 2,9 млн фунтов стерлингов.
